Inglewood Section Purchase
The Trustees (in conjunction with our Build Partner Habitat for Humanity) are ecstatic to announce that we have secured a section in Inglewood. The section is in the Estate Grove subdivision and offers a convenient location for residents and carers alike. The residents are also in close proximity to healthcare providers in New Plymouth.
Lantern House Trust and Habitat for Humanity announce partnership
Habitat for Humanity Taranaki (HFH) has agreed to partner with the Lantern House Trust (LHT) to build a purpose built community home for the Trust, to accommodate the requirements of up to five families with children/young adults requiring long term care.
The LHT is a Charitable Trust set up to raise awareness of the severely high-need young people of Taranaki with intellectual and physical disabilities. Its mission is to provide a home that will be purpose built to provide full time care for young adults.
In July HFH and LHT signed a Memorandum of understanding, and last month a section was purchased in Inglewood with the building planned to commence in February 2015. We will be looking for volunteers between February and May to come and participate in a wonderful project to build a home for this marginalised group of young people in the Taranaki community who will be cared for by professional health providers.
Habitat and the Lantern House Trust are now seeking more funding for the project. If you wish to make a donation especially for this project please send to Habitat for Humanity Taranaki and designate to the LHT Project. If you wish to volunteer and have special skills we may be able to use please contact us by email – firstname.lastname@example.org
This is an exciting new partnership between HFH and LHT and we are looking forward to working together on it with the prospect of the funds being recycled to build another community home in the future. We are also looking forward to the prospect of bringing past funders of Habitat on board.
The Trustees are pleased to announce that we have confirmed Inglewood as the destination for our 'home away from home'.
We are currently investigating possible sites suitable for our building project. Look out for an announcement in the next couple of months about our building partner.
Thank you to all the generous people of Taranaki who have supported our project to date. With your help and our dedication, Lantern House Trust will achieve its vision.
